Spring

A spring is a mechanical component with ideal elastic behavior. The most common type is a coil spring, which can be loaded in the direction of the coil axis and transfers the force primarily by torsion stresses.

Coil springs are also used in RFEM and RSTAB. In this case, the axial stiffness is determined by the spring constant. The flexural resistance is negligible in such springs.

In the program, the "Spring" member type is available. The limit values of the spring can be specified via the deformation or the force. As an alternative, it is also possible to define them by means of a diagram. Thus, the spring properties can be modeled precisely.
