Cement

Cement is the hydraulic binder used for concrete production.

By adding water, the cement powder is mixed to form what is known as cement paste, which hardens through hydration both when exposed to air and under water. In the course of the hardening process, the cement paste turns into cement stone, whose volume also remains constant under water.

Cement is classified according to its components, strength development, and hardening behavior. Cement components can be Portland cement clinker, granulated slag, limestone, or fly ash, to name a few. The hardening process can be divided into fast-, normal-, or slow-hardening cement.
