Nodal Constraint

A nodal constraint establishes the relation between displacements and rotations between two or more nodes. In this way, you can model wall surfaces or ceiling slabs in member models without using surfaces, for example.

Entering in RFEM 5

A nodal constraint can be entered by using the menu "Insert" → "Model Data" → "Nodal Constraints" or using Project Navigator - Data → "Model Data" → "Nodal Constraints."

There are two types of constraints available for selection:

  • The "Diaphragm Constraint" type couples all degrees of freedom perpendicular to the plane.
  • The "Equal Condition Constraint" type allows you to determine the constraints individually.
Info

In RSTAB, it is possibnle to model nodal constraints using members of the "Coupling" type with predefined properties.

Nodal Constraints in RFEM 6

In RFEM 6, you can model nodal constraints as a rigid link.
