Minimum Reinforcement

For beams, the minimum reinforcement (robustness) describes the minimum cross-section area of the statically required longitudinal reinforcement provided for the designed cross-section.

The minimum reinforcement has various tasks, such as preventing failure without prior notice or unquantifiable imposed actions (due to temperature, shrinkage, and so on), as well as ensuring ductile behavior of structural components.
