In the Chinese province of Qinghai, near the city of Haixi, a complex of 23 multi-energy plants is being built, combining different technologies to generate energy from renewable resources. The complex includes a 188.5-m (618.4-ft) high solar plant tower with a capacity of 50 MW, the supporting structure of which is expected to be completed in mid-2019. The solar power plant uses modern CSP (Concentrated Solar Power) technology, which enables the accumulation of thermal solar energy, thus ensuring continuous power generation even at night.

Describing the procedure for the serviceability limit state design of a floor slab made of steel fiber-reinforced concrete. This article shows how to perform the corresponding design for the SLS by means of the iteratively determined FEA results.
Steel-fiber-reinforced concrete is mainly used nowadays for industrial floors or hall floors, foundation plates with low loads, basement walls, and basement floors. Since the publication in 2010 of the first guideline about steel-fiber-reinforced concrete by the German Committee for Reinforced Concrete (DAfStb), a structural engineer can use standards for the design of the steel fiber-reinforced concrete composite material, which makes the use of fiber-reinforced concrete increasingly popular in construction. This article describes the nonlinear calculation of a foundation plate made of steel fiber-reinforced concrete in the ultimate limit state with the FEA software RFEM.

Design strips allow you to set the reinforcement layout efficiently. After defining the design strips, the program generates result members that integrate the internal forces of surfaces. When designing these result beams, the development length of the reinforcement is automatically calculated.
Using the Design Strip Wizard, you can generate design strips based on the dimensions of a building grid. The width of the strips can be calculated automatically based on the span width and length (according to ACI 318-19 8.4.1.5-7) or on the basis of the pure span length (commonly used in Europe). In addition, you can specify a user-defined width.
In the Snow Load Wizard, you can optionally consider snow overhang and snow guard when generating snow loads according to Eurocode.
The Construction Stages Analysis (CSA) add-on allows you to modify the object and design properties of members, surfaces, and so on, in the individual construction stages.
During the calculation, you can display the model deformation for the calculation steps graphically in the calculation progress window.
