The term component has a different meaning in different program versions of RFEM.
Components in RFEM 5
In RFEM 5, a component is a partial surface that results from the intersection of surfaces.
If at least two surfaces are intersected using the "Create Intersection" option, several partial surfaces—components—are created from the original surfaces. It is possible to change the properties of these components: For example, you can deactivate components, change their thicknesses or materials, or use their own FE mesh refinement.
Components in RFEM 6
In the RFEM 6 program versions, a component is a part of a steel connection entered for the connection design in the Steel Joints add-on.
