Point elements are available in the SHAPE‑THIN program under "Insert" → "Model Data" → "Point Elements."
Point elements are taken into account when calculating cross-section properties. Their component should not be too great in order to guarantee the validity of the thin-walled cross-section theory.
The analytical calculation of the torsion moment of inertia does not include the point elements. Also, no stresses are determined for point elements.
Types of Point Elements
Four types of point elements are possible:
- Rounding
- Rectangle
- Circle
- Triangle
It is possible to set the point elements graphically at snap points of a cross-section.
