Generating the Mesh

To start the generation of the FE mesh, select Generate Mesh on the Calculate menu. Alternatively, use the corresponding entry on the 'Mesh' list button.

The FE mesh is also generated automatically when starting the calculation of a load case. However, we advise checking the generated mesh before running the calculation. This way, you ensure that a sufficient and "harmonic" discretization is given. If necessary, you can add refinement areas. Conversely, you can provide areas of little relevance for results evaluation with a coarse FE mesh; for example, as a "mesh refinement" generated for those surfaces having a larger mesh size than the target length LFE. This shortens the calculation time and facilitates the evaluation.

After the successful mesh generation, you can open the Mesh Statistics on the Calculate menu to call up the balance of the FE mesh.

The statistics show the type and number of generated finite elements, which is useful for selecting the appropriate matrix solver method and estimating the approximate calculation time (see the Static Analysis Settings chapter).

If you change model data, the FE mesh is automatically deleted. To delete the mesh manually, select Delete Mesh on the Calculate menu or use the corresponding entry in the list button (see the image 'Mesh' List Button). Please note that all results that may be available are deleted as well.
