The model consists of a 100 mm long aluminum cantilever with a modulus of elasticity of 70 GPa. The cross-section is a flat upstanding sheet with a height of 20 mm and a width of 1 mm. A load of 1 kN is applied at the end of the cantilever. The modeling was carried out using beam elements, with (Tomoshenko) and without consideration of shear distortion (Bernoulli), and using quadrangle surface elements with different mesh refinements.
This model is used as an example in the technical article about mesh convergence.
