Concrete Effective Lengths

In the Concrete Effective Lengths tab, you can assign an effective length to a member. This is required for the stability design according to the nominal curvature method (model column method).

Assignment

Once you have defined the types for Effective Lengths, you can select the proper type from the list. Use the New button to create a new (or additional) effective length type.

The Edit button allows you to edit the effective length type selected in the list. You can use the Select Effective Lengths in Graphics button to graphically adopt the type from another member.

Important

If there is no concrete effective length assigned to the member, no stability analysis is carried out.

Graphic

You can see the member cross-section on the right, and the longitudinal section below. The supports, applied from the boundary conditions for the stability analysis, are also shown there. The functions of both graphic areas are described in the Chapter Shear Reinforcement .
