The deformation of the wind-sensitive structures can significantly alter the aerodynamics characteristics. Deformed shapes often have more surface irregularities, increasing drag. The flow of air over an object is smoother on streamlined surfaces, while deformed or jagged shapes tend to disrupt airflow, creating turbulence.
A tensile surface structure is considered as a case study for presenting the current feature. The original shape after form-finding analysis in RFEM 6 is shown in Image 1.
The original shape can be transferred to RWIND for wind simulation, as shown in Image 2.
After the CFD simulation, the deformed shape under wind load is obtained in Image 3.
By considering the initial condition (Image 4), it is possible to transfer the deformed shape of the previous load case as initial state for the corresponding load case in RWIND (Image 5).
