[EN] FAQ 003600 | What is the fastest way to model trapezoidal sheets by means of surfaces in RFEM?

Question:
What is the fastest way to model trapezoidal sheets by means of surfaces in RFEM?

Answer:
Trapezoidal sheets are already available in the cross-section library of RFEM. These cross-sections are primarily used for stabilization measures in the RF‑/STEEL EC3 add-on module and as a template for modeling surfaces. Therefore, design as a member is not possible.

The easiest way is to model the trapezoidal sheet as a member first. Then, this member can be converted into surfaces automatically (see Image 01). Thus, you obtain the geometry as a surface model. It is also possible to create curved trapezoidal sheets. If you split a curved member into surfaces, it is created using straight segments. If you still want to use curved lines, you can simply rotate the boundary lines accordingly. The exact procedure is shown in the video.
