Components

Components are individual parts of a joint. Together, they all form the steel joint at a node. The components are managed in the Components tab of the Steel Joint dialog box. Various component types are available.

In the library, the components are categorized with regard to their function:

  • Modifications (member cuts and plate cuts)
  • Stiffening elements (plates, stiffeners, cap plates)
  • Fasteners (end plates, fin plates, cleats, connecting plates, base plates)
  • Others (welds, fasteners)

Each component plays a part in the load-bearing capacity of the joint. They are designed separately. The specific results are displayed in both tables and graphics.

Info

The order of the components plays an important role in the input. For example, you can only define a plate cut can if you have previously created the plate as a reinforcement element in the list of components.

The components are explained in detail in the following subchapters.
