Connecting Lines and Members

This function connects lines and members that cross each other but do not have a common node.

To access the corresponding function, select the menu entry

    • Tools → Connect Lines/Members

or use the toolbar button shown on the left.

Go into the work window and draw a window across the zone where you want to connect the lines or members. It is not necessary to catch the objects completely.

You can use this function to determine the intersection point of a line and a surface, for example.

This function can also be used for setting new lines or members graphically (see Figure 11.96). However, connection nodes are only created when lines/members are connected to other lines/members, that is when they end at the corresponding object. When you define crossing diagonals, no intersection node is generated.

In the New Line or New Member dialog box, you can use the button to determine if lines or members are automatically connected when they are generated.
