RWIND 2 and RFEM 6 can now be used to calculate wind loads from experimentally measured wind pressures on surfaces. Basically, two interpolation methods are available to distribute pressures measured in isolated points across the surfaces. The desired pressure distribution can be achieved using the appropriate method and parameter settings.

Creating a validation example for Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) is a critical step in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of simulation results. This process involves comparing the outcomes of CFD simulations with experimental or analytical data from real-world scenarios. The objective is to establish that the CFD model can faithfully replicate the physical phenomena it is intended to simulate.

Wind direction plays a crucial role in shaping the outcomes of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations and the structural design of buildings and infrastructures. It is a determining factor in assessing how wind forces interact with structures, influencing the distribution of wind pressures, and consequently, the structural responses.

You can display the RWIND results directly in the main program. In the Navigator - Results, select the Wind Simulation Analysis result type from the list above.

Currently, the following results are available, which refer to the RWIND computational mesh:

• Surface pressure
• Surface cp coefficient
• Wall distance y+ (steady flow)

RWIND Basic uses a numerical CFD model (Computational Fluid Dynamics) to simulate wind flows around your objects using a digital wind tunnel. The simulation process determines specific wind loads acting on your model surfaces from the flow result around the model.

A 3D volume mesh is responsible for the simulation itself. For this, RWIND Basic performs an automatic meshing on the basis of freely definable control parameters. For the calculation of wind flow, RWIND Basic provides a steady solver and RWIND Pro a transient solver for incompressible turbulent flow. Surface pressures resulting from the flow results are extrapolated onto the model for each time step.
