Extension of a Production Plant in Germany

A chipboard factory in Germany was renovated at the beginning of 2014. The main structural elements were made of S235 steel hot‑rolled shapes and the structure was set on a slab foundation.

The designers faced the challenge of having limited space to work with.

The designers faced the challenge of having limited space to work with. It was necessary to integrate multiple structures without being in conflict with the existing elements.

Moreover, the existing dynamic loads from agitators and vibrating sieves could interfere with the scales and dosing machines.

In addition to the above requirements, it was necessary to keep the existing passageways and integrate the new structures into the existing hall building. Thus, interpenetrating structures were designed.

Structural Analysis

For the design, a separate 3D model for each of the four structures was created in RSTAB. Dynamic calculations were performed in the DYNAM Pro add‑on modules.
