Due to new technical requirements, investor Melamin d.d. Kočevje decided to replace the old fossil fuel boiler (Đuro Đakovič, No. 5356) with a new boiler with a total capacity of 9.8 MW.
The new system for steam production consists of biomass storage, a transport and delivery system for woodchips, a steam boiler, and an ash collector.
The new boiler house was a demanding project from a technological and execution point of view. The construction was also difficult because it took place while the existing boiler (Loos, No. 61428) was in operation. The old boiler is currently used for temporary steam production, while in the future, it will only be used as a backup.
