In the course of the Elbe-Havel Canal expansion, the Güsen road bridge was replaced by a new construction at the same location. This new construction was necessary because the clear width and height of the existing bridge were not sufficient for the next development of the waterway.
In order to maintain an important road connection over the canal, the construction of a temporary bridge was required.
The company grbv Ingenieure im Bauwesen GmbH & Co. KG from Hanover, Germany, was responsible for the planning and structural design of the new and the temporary bridge as well as for the demolition of the existing bridge. For the static calculations, grbv used a.o. the framework program RSTAB.
