If you want to model complex structures or segments of them, you can import data from DXF files, which are used as background layers in RFEM. The DXF graphic is placed in the background of the work window as a template. This option is used for this example to create a segment of the stadium. The nodes of the background layer can be selected using the object snap. In this way, you can quickly create the structure by using snap points.
Background layers are managed as auxiliary objects in the Navigator - Data.
Right-click the "Background Layers" entry. Then, select the "New Background Layer" option in the shortcut menu. In the "New Background Layer" dialog box, you can import a DXF file by clicking the "Open File" ( ) button. When you have imported the DXF file, you can adjust it accordingly in the dialog box – for example, move, rotate, or scale it.
As soon as you have imported the DXF data in RFEM and set it to active (see image Background Layer in RFEM), you can start modeling the individual elements of the segment.
