The second construction stage – called "Shape 2 on Shape 1" in our example – can be defined similarly as in Chapter Defining Construction Stage 1. However, in addition to members and nodal supports, the newly defined surfaces and line supports are considered in the second construction stage.
Since there are no further elements added to the structure, you can select the "All" option when selecting the members, surfaces, nodal supports, and line supports.
The loads assigned to the first construction stage are defined with the "permanent" type. Therefore, the program automatically assigns these load cases to the second construction stage.
When calculating this construction stage, the program determines "Shape 1" first, and then analyzes the second construction stage. This calculation gives the result shown in Image Shape 2 on Shape 1.
