The results that are related to the finite volume mesh of the model are displayed as "Flow Field Quantities." These include the pressure field, velocity field, and turbulence field results. You can set the type of results by clicking the , , , or button in the "Results - Flow Field Quantities" area of the panel.
Pressure Field
The pressure field represents a section through the wind tunnel that illustrates the wind pressure distribution of the air flow. "Drag" is represented by positive magnitudes, "lift" by negative ones.
The section is presented in one of the global planes (XY, XZ, YZ) that can be controlled by the corresponding buttons in the toolbar. To evaluate pressure fields at specific sections through the model, use the "Slicer" options described in Chapter Slicer.
Velocity Field
The velocity field represents a section through the wind tunnel illustrating the wind speed distribution. It enables you to evaluate the scalar field of wind velocity on your model.
The section is displayed in one of the global planes (XY, XZ, YZ) that can be controlled as described above.
Turbulence - k Field
These results show a section through the wind tunnel illustrating the distribution of turbulences with respect to the turbulence kinetic energy k (see Chapter Turbulence). By moving the slicer plane, you can examine the effects of turbulence at specific locations.
Turbulence - ε Field
Alternatively, the results of the turbulent energy dissipation, the turbulence field ε, can be displayed. A detailed description of the turbulent quantities can be found in Chapter Turbulence, an introduction to turbulence, see Chapter Note About Turbulence.
