First, the steps of hall modeling in RFEM 6 are described. The results of the structural analysis and aluminum design for selected components are then presented.
Basically, it is clear that steel is still unsurpassed as a material for supporting structures with large spans and will probably remain so in the future. Nevertheless, it is obvious that the use of aluminum for load-bearing structures is steadily increasing. This includes not only hall-like buildings, but also smaller structures, such as terrace roofs.
