As all surfaces of the model have the same thickness, it would be sufficient to use one thickness type. Nevertheless, two types are to be defined – one for the slabs and one for the walls. This will make it easier to globally modify the thickness of slabs or walls as needed by the design, for example. Furthermore, it can be useful when checking the results.
Double-click the Thicknesses item in the navigator (see the Navigator - Data image).
Make sure that Concrete f'c = 4000 psi is set. Then enter 8.0 in to define the thickness. In the 'Comment' area, you can enter Slabs to label the thickness type.
To continue, click the button in the bottom-left corner of the dialog box.
Ensure Concrete f'c = 4000 psi has been set for the material. Then enter 8.0 in again. For the second type, enter Walls in the 'Comment' area.
Click OK to save the data.
All basic types of the objects have been defined now. In the next steps, the geometric objects of the model can be created.
