The subject of this engineering thesis was a project to recreate a military hangar for airships from World War I. It was developed in accordance with applicable regulations and construction standards.
The paper contains a review of the literature on the construction of wooden hangars from World War I. These are collected historical and archival materials of the reconstructed hangar structure from the Pietrasze Forest. Next, a design of the recreated main transverse structure system was developed, static calculations of the structural elements were performed, their dimensioning, and the construction details of the hangar nodes were modeled in Tekla Structures.
The airship hangar was designed in its original location as a free-standing structure consisting of 20 cross-sections and the rear wall of the building. It will function as a military facility for the stationing, operation and servicing of Albatros II and Astra combat airships.
