Material models

Soil is a multi-phase system consisting of grain as well as water and air, which shows a highly nonlinear material behavior.
For the finite element analysis of soil, special material models are used, which mathematically represent its natural behavior. It is necessary to be able to reflect exactly the properties that are relevant for the problem to be solved.

The following two material models are currently available in the Geotechnical Analysis add-on in RFEM 6.

  • Mohr-Coulomb model
  • Nonlinear elastic model
