A timber roof structure was recently constructed over an existing open-air ice rink in Jelgava, Latvia. The project, located on Pasta Island, serves as a multi-functional building for recreational, cultural, and social activities.
Because the skating rink was located next to an existing pedestrian bridge and building, the shape and appearance of the roof needed to blend in well with the surroundings. For this reason, curved glued-laminated timber roofing was chosen.
