🏅 Olympic Games 2024: Reversible R+4 Composite Timber/Concrete Building in Saint-Denis, France 🏅

🌍 As part of the 2024 Olympic Games, an extraordinary building project was designed for the river eco-district of l’Île-Saint-Denis (93). Gustave Ingénieurs, a proud customer of Dlubal Software, handled the entire structural design, from initial ideas to construction drawings.

🏢 Project Overview:
The 5-story building (PB9) includes 37 apartments with a total floor area of 3,000 m² (32,292 ft²). The project emphasizes sustainability and a reduced carbon footprint, using reversible and mixed-use designs.

🚴 Project Phases:

1. "Empreinte" Phase: For the 2024 sporting competitions, accommodating 2,700 athletes and officials, along with offices, storage, and meeting rooms.
2. "Heritage" Phase: Starting in 2025, transforming the site into a residential area with housing, economic and commercial activities, and public facilities.

🔧 Technical Details:

1. High-quality materials, especially timber.
2. Concrete base on the ground floor, with four upper floors made of timber.
3. Concrete stairwells and elevators for stability.
4. Use of 2D prefabricated elements to optimize construction time and reduce environmental impact.
5. Entirely designed using BIM technology with a 3D model in RFEM for load descent and structural analysis.

🪵 Materials:

Kerto LVL products for Kerto-Ripa caissons, provided by Metsä Wood, suitable for prefabrication and meeting constraints of large permanent loads.
Timber structure with a height of 320 mm (12.6 in) and a span length of 5.80 m (19 ft).

🏆 Achievement:

Dlubal Software and the expertise of Gustave Ingénieurs supported material selection and optimized prefabrication. This project sets an exemplary standard for the 2024 Games and beyond, aligning with Paris and Solideo’s carbon neutrality and climate resilience goals.
