The recent trend in high-rise construction is clearly dominated by timber as the most ecological and environmentally friendly material. The project promoter Nexity Resolutely is committed to constructive building solutions with a reduced carbon footprint through various labels and certifications included in their several office and commercial timber projects. These include the Palazzo Meridia in Nice. This is currently the tallest CLT office building in France. Dlubal customer CBS-Lifteam was responsible for the planning, supply, and installation of the timber structure.

The basement (which accommodates 31 parking spaces), first floor, and two staircases are made of reinforced concrete. A remarkable open metal facade supports the corridors and allows plants to climb the facade.

In order to correctly design a downstand beam or a T-beam in RFEM 6 using the Concrete Design add-on, it is essential to determine the flange widths for the rib members. This article describes the input options for a two-span beam and the calculation of the flange dimensions according to EN 1992-1-1.
When calculating regular structures, data input is often not complicated but time-consuming. Input automation can save valuable time. The task described in the present article is to consider the stories of a house as single construction stages. In the Concrete Design add-on for RFEM 6, you can perform the fire design of reinforced concrete slabs and walls according to the simplified table method (EN 1992‑1‑2, Section 5.4.2 and Tables 5.8 and 5.9).
In the Concrete Design add-on, you have the option to define an existing vertically oriented punching shear reinforcement. This is then taken into account in the punching shear design.

You can determine the internal forces for the fire resistance design according to two methods.
- 1 Here, the internal forces of the accidental design situation are included directly into the design.
- 2 The internal forces of the design at normal temperature are reduced by the factor Eta,fi (ηfi), then used in the fire resistance design.
Furthermore, it is possible to modify the axis distance according to Eq. 5.5.
