Shear Panel and Rotational Restraint

To stabilize the components bearing stability risks, a shear panel and/or a rotational restraint can be defined in RF‑/STEEL EC3. Optionally, trapezoidal sheets, bracings, or individual purlins can be taken into account.

For example, to define sandwich panels, you can enter the rotational restraint as well as the shear panel manually as a single value. In addition, you can select powder-actuated fasteners according to DIN EN and the consideration of cross‑section deformation. The calculation of the rotational restraint is performed according to EN 1993‑1‑3. The calculated stiffnesses are considered in the eigenvalue solver of RF‑/STEEL EC3, and thus lead to the exact critical load and to design improvement.
