Now, it is possible to directly consider the effect mentioned above, using the combined wall/roof generator. To do this, select the "Do not load members common for roof and wall with wall wind loads" option in the Settings dialog box. Thus, the loads of vertical walls do not apply to the edge members, but they are distributed on columns, as shown in the figure. The edge member is loaded only by a part of the roof.
Using Edge Members in the Wind Load Generator
When using the wind load generator for vertical walls with a roof, it may be necessary to load the edge members on eaves or on a gable only with the wind loads of the roof. For structural reasons, the horizontal wind loads should apply to the vertical walls by the facade. In previous versions, it was necessary to apply the wind loads separately to the walls and the roof with the corresponding generators and exclude the unwanted members.
