Development of Design Tool for Timber-Concrete Composite Structures with Birdsmouth Joint Using Framework Models

The variety of design options, application areas, and possibilities to create shear coupling for the two main components of wood and concrete make timber-concrete composite systems an exciting alternative in building construction. Various design methods exist due to the many different composite options.

So, in this context, there is no one correct way or solution; instead, it's necessary to determine and analyze the basic conditions of a project and to design a structural system using an appropriate model that meets the requirements for load-bearing capacity and serviceability. Suitable design tools adapted to individual cases are often not available for the structural engineers involved. Therefore, this thesis deals with the creation of a design tool that can be used for designing a floor slab composed of laminated timber boards and concrete.
